Department of Theory and Practice of Italian Translation.

The chair "Theory and Practice of Translation of the Italian Language" was established on April 21, 2022 and B.S. Ergashova was appointed head of the chair.

There are currently 7 professors (6 core, 1 volunteer) in the department. Prior to the creation of the department, the Italian department was part of the Department of Translation Studies of Romance-Germanic Languages, and during the academic year 2021-2022 more than 14 scientific articles were published by professors and teachers of Italian.

This department conducts theoretical and practical activities related to translation issues and performs tasks related to translation and interpreter skills.

Leading professors have worked in the department. They are: Sh.A. Abduganiev, J.J. Hudaiberdiev, Sh.B. Mustafayev, I.B. Faizullayeva, M. Legler have contributed to the development of the department and continue to do so.

On 21 September 2022, a meeting was organised with two Italian language students at the 2nd level of the Translation Faculty of the State University of World Languages of Uzbekistan, with two doctoral students, Maria Rovaris and Antonio Rovaris, who came from Italy. The meeting took place in the 315 auditorium of the Translation Department of the University, i.e. in the Department of Theory and Practice of the Italian Language of Translation. The meeting was conducted in Italian only and the students asked their questions in Italian and received satisfactory answers. The main questions concerned the education system in Italy.

On 14 November 2022, a round table on the opening of the Italian Language and Culture Centre in Uzbekistan was organised with Laura Cavalleri and Claudia Finotti, Chair of the Italian Language Translation Department of the Uzbek State University of World Languages, visiting from Italy. The meeting was held in the 315 auditorium of the Translation Department of the University, i.e. in the Department of Theory and Practice of the Italian Language for Translation. It was attended by Ergasheva B., Head of the Department of Theory and Practice of the Italian Language, and all the Italian language teachers.

Laura Cavalleri and Claudia Finotti introduced themselves and gave interesting and useful information about Italian culture and life, the education system, after which the Italian teachers also asked questions. The panel discussion was very interesting. During the conversation they mentioned their main goals in opening a centre for Italian culture. Their goal is to spread the Italian language and organize future round tables for those interested in Italian culture and language. The head of the department, B.S. Ergasheva, said instead that she fully agreed with these views and gave her ideas and suggestions.
