POLICY FOR PROTECTING STUDENTS' RIGHTS AGAINST DISCRIMINATION AND ADVERSE CONSEQUENCES

IN EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT

The Uzbek State University of World Languages has a policy that protects those who report discrimination from educational or employment disadvantage. This policy is called the Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Policy.

Under this policy, the University is committed to ensuring fairness and equality for all students and employees, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or other characteristics.

The policy also stipulates that the university will protect those who report discrimination from retaliation. This means that the university will not discriminate against students or employees who report discrimination in relation to their education, employment or other aspects of their participation at the university.

Specific measures the University takes to protect those who report discrimination include:

• Confidentiality guarantee. The University is committed to protecting the privacy of students and employees who report discrimination.

• Providing opportunities for presenters to seek assistance. The university provides presenters with access to resources and support, including legal assistance and mental health counseling.

• Taking action to eliminate discrimination. If the University determines that discrimination has occurred, it will take action to correct it.

Here are some specific examples of how this policy can help students who need help due to discrimination:

1. A student who is being discriminated against by a faculty member may contact the Office of Student Affairs for assistance in changing faculty members.

2. An employee who is discriminated against by a supervisor may contact the HR department for assistance in transferring to another position.

3. A student or employee who has been discriminated against may contact the University Legal Department for assistance in filing a claim.

The University believes that this policy is an important part of its commitment to ensuring fair and equal access to education and employment for all.
