Translation Studies and Lexicography

On February 16, the scientific-practical center "Translation Studies and Lexicography" has launched. It has been established under the Department of Theoretical Sciences of the German Language of the Romano-Germanic Philology faculty of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University.

The opening ceremony of the center was attended by German guests: Walter Sabiel, deputy head of the German Goethe Institute in Tashkent, Simon Krechmer, coordinator of the German partner PASH schools in Uzbekistan and a number of professors.

The rector of the University I.M. Tokhtasinov gave an opening speech and congratulated everyone assuring that the new scientific and practical center will be beneficial for everyone.

Scientific-practical center "Translation Studies and Lexicography" is expected to provide such opportunities like translating literary and scientific-popular works from foreign languages, contributing to the integration of Uzbek national literature with world literature, unites specialists in German, English, French, Spanish and Russian languages into one team and defines common types of activities as well as the creating and publication of a new electronic scientific-practical magazine called "Translation and Lexicography" at the university.
