Brief information about the Department of English Language Teaching Methodology №1

History of the department: Until 2017, the department operated under the name of the Department of Phonetics and Phonology. From 2017 to today, it continues its activity under the name of the Department of English Language Teaching Methodology No.1. Currently, the department operates under the status of a specialty department.

Staff of the department: 29 professors are currently working in the department, of which: 18 are full-time, 12 are part-time. Scientific potential of the department. The scientific potential of the department is 32,2%. According to the scientific direction of the department, scientific research was carried out in the following specialties: Theory and methodology of education and training (13.00.02.): Muradkasimova Kamola Shukhratovna (DSc), Ochilova Vazirakhan Rustamovna (PhD), Ismatova Shakhnoza Mirakhmatovna (PhD). Comparative literature, Сontrastive linguistics and translation studies (10.00.06): Paluanova Khalifa Daribaevna (DSc), Minnikulov Islam Urol ugli (PhD).

Activities of the department. The normative and legal bases of the activity of the department are determined by the decisions and orders of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the decisions and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers, the decisions and orders of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the orders of the rector and the orders of the dean. The department mainly operates in educational, scientific-research and spiritual-educational directions. The teachers of the department carry out their academic load based on the approved individual plans. The scientific-research works of the department are defined by textbooks, teaching manuals, methodical manuals, monographs, scientific articles, theses published by the teachers of the department. The scientific activity of the department is determined by conducting scientific seminars, monitoring of doctoral students, independent researchers’ works, involving the teachers of the department in research and other activities. The teachers of the department provide group coaching to graduate students and carry out spiritual-educational affairs with them on the basis of a schedule.

Subjects related to the department: The department provides education to graduate students in the direction of Foreign Language and Literature (English). The department conducts classes in the following general and specialized subjects: practice of reading and writing, integrated course of teaching foreign languages, comparative typology, theory and practice of translation, language teaching methodology and educational technologies.
