The Department of "Second Foreign Language" of the 3rd Faculty of English Language was established in accordance with the decision of the Academic Council of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages on August 29, 2021.

Since the 2023–2024 academic year, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Yuldashev Azim Abdurahmanovich has been serving as the head of the department. The languages taught by the department include: Polish, Finnish, Urdu, Dutch, Persian, Turkish, Hindi, Malay, Greek, Indonesian, and English. The purpose of teaching these disciplines is to provide students majoring in these fields with general practical understanding of these disciplines, as well as to form and develop initial fundamental knowledge in young people capable of learning languages. An important task of the department's faculty is to form and develop the ability to apply practical knowledge accumulated in the field of foreign languages in everyday life.

The department has established clubs “Reading Club”, “Speaking club”, and “English For Beginners”, which are currently active. These clubs provide students with additional information about practical English.

Department Composition: The department has 16 faculty members, of which 13 are full-time employees and 3 are external part-time employees.

Priority areas of the department:

  • Creating educational and methodological support for disciplines taught in all areas of education and delivering them to students based on modern information and communication technologies;
  • Conducting continuous monitoring of literature published abroad within the scope of disciplines taught at the department;
  • Introducing new innovative teaching technologies, attracting students and teachers to conduct scientific research.

Scientific and methodological activities of the department:

Department faculty members have published more than 5 scientific articles in international journals SCOPUS, WEB OF SCIENCE, IMPACT FACTOR. More than 50 scientific articles have been published in journals recognized by the International and Republican Higher Attestation Commission, and department faculty members participate in conferences and symposia with their articles.

Department faculty members have prepared and published 4 textbooks, 5 study guides, 10 teaching aids, and 3 dictionaries.

Department faculty members have obtained 8 APTIS, 5 CEFR (C1), and 5 TESOL certificates to improve their knowledge and skills.
