Informational resource centre of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages

 

              Activities of the Informational Resource Centre at UzSWLU are regulated by the Decrees of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers, commands of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, the Decree by Higher and Secondary Special Education Ministry proclaimed on October 10, 2022 called “Regulation on the procedure of calculating informational library resources in informational library centres”.  The function of IRC is also contained in the command “On ensuring the implementation of the decision No.552 dated September 30, 2022 about the regulation on the procedure for maintaining informational library funds”, and “Regulation on the procedure of releasing informational library resources from the funds of informational library centres” by Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education dated November 11, 2022 in accordance with the model regulations approved on the basis of the orders No. 371 of November “On amendments and additions to the adopted regulatory legal documents related to informational library activities” and “Regulation on the procedure for accounting of informational library resources in the Informational-Resource Centre and the procedure for checking the funds in the Informational-Resource Centre”, “Regulation on the procedure for maintaining the informational library funds of the Information-Resource Centre” being prepared for approval by the rector of the university and “Regulation on the procedure for the release of informational library resources from the funds of the informational resource centre” and “Regulation on the informational resource centre of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages” and “The rules for using the Informational Resource Centre of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages” are being developed. In 2011 and in 2018 regulatory and legal documents such as “Regulations on the electronic library of the UzSWLU Informational Resource Centre” and “​​Regulation on supplying Informational Resource Centre of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages with artistic, scientific-popular and spiritual-educational literature” which are based on the decisions of the university council and orders of the rector’s office were proclaimed.

         The Informational Resource Centre consists of 5 departments as follows: Scientific-methodological and informational department, Department of integration, cataloguing and structuring informational library resources, Department of service with informational library resources, Department of electronic informational resources and  Department of working with Foreign informational library resources.

  • The Informational Resource Centre has the funding of 599,048 copies: there are 120,874 copies of textbooks, 174,548 copies of educational manuals, 30,653 copies of scientific literature, 117,861 copies of fiction books and 155,112 copies of additional literature;

–According to the languages of books: 152,765 books in Uzbek (including 135,052 copies in Cyrillic, 17,713 in Latin alphabet), 307,396 books in Russian and 138,887 books in other foreign languages;

–As for 2022, a subscription of 201 copies of 60 titles with a total price of 10,995,2759 sums was organized for the Republican periodical press publications;

–There are 541 copies of candidacy and doctoral dissertations along with 2615 copies of abstracts defended in our Republic since 1952;

            It is possible to use electronic copies of literature in 5563 titles and an electronic catalogue describing literature in 49884 titles;

 –Resource centre is the member of Scopus, SciVal and EBSCO_Host scientific databases, which include scientific journals and electronic educational literature;

–there are 85 titles of audio and 34 copies of Louis Braille literature with audio discs for blind and visually impaired students;

–It can serve up to 10,990 readers including 10198 students, 628 professors and teachers, 39 researchers and 125 employees.

– Informational resource centre (IRC) provides literature for home usage to readers with subscriptions in 4 regions of the city;

–Study halls in the IRC no.1,2,3,4 operate in student residences;

– IRC has 6 study halls with 700 seats with an open fund containing 40,767 copies of literature;

–Five electronic libraries including 111 seats equipped with modern computers are operating;

–Six discussion rooms with 10 seats each for strengthening foreign language knowledge and language skills;

– A conference hall with 36 seats provides facilities for holding interesting events and trainings, such as meetings, presentations, discussions that are dedicated to important dates, lives and works of famous people. It creates opportunities for students’ spiritual enrichment and well-educated creative growth;

–“Korean Corner” study hall which was established in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea operates with all amenities and 532 copies of literature and promotes Korean language and culture among students;

–The website of the informational resource centre https://uzlib.uz/ and the official channel on Telegram https://t.me/uzlibuz operate in order to facilitate users and provide remote services.

– Visitors and members are provided with all types of services, except for taking literature to home;

– The Informational Resource Centre is open from Monday till Friday between 8:30-21:00 and on Saturdays it operates from 8:30 till 17:00.
