On September 19, 2025, a meeting was held at the Uzbekistan State World Languages University (UzSWLU) with representatives of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Korea International Development Center (KIDC).

Participants from KIDC included Project Manager Kim Bok Hee, Regional Managers Kang Dong Yoon and Noh Yoon Mi, and Local Manager Anvarjon Shomirzaev. From KOICA’s Tashkent Office, Deputy Director Kim Siyeon, Program Manager Cha Juna, Local Coordinator Shukurov Shukrullo, and Intern Park Junhyun attended. From UzSWLU, Rector Ilhomjon Tuxtasinov, Vice-Rector for Finance and Economics M. Khamrayev, Head of International Cooperation Department Kh. Yuldashev, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Philology D. Djuraev, and Head of the Supply Department R. Kholmurodov participated.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of KOICA’s project “Improving the Teaching of Korean Language and Culture through Volunteers,” the renovation and equipping of rooms allocated for the project at the Faculty of Oriental Philology, as well as future plans.

At the beginning, Rector Ilhomjon Tuxtasinov warmly welcomed the guests and congratulated Mr. Kim Siyeon on his appointment as Deputy Director of KOICA’s Tashkent Office.

Information on completed activities was also shared. Over 2.5 years, 22 Korean volunteers taught Korean language courses at UzSWLU and organized extracurricular clubs such as Taekwondo, traditional dance, calligraphy, and music. From September 4, 2025, another group of 16 volunteers arrived in Uzbekistan and, after completing a short adaptation course, began teaching. Additionally, interior design plans for the faculty, tender documents, and budgets were prepared and presented to KOICA.

In conclusion, the Rector expressed gratitude for the cooperation and support, emphasizing that the project helps young people learn the Korean language and culture, while also strengthening friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Korea.
