On September 22, 2025, a meeting was held at UzSWLU with Rector Prof. I. Tuxtasinov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs A. Nasirov, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Philology D. Djurayev, and Head of Department N. Khamidova together with professors of the Department of Japanese Philology who are native speakers of Japanese.
In the 2025–2026 academic year, 11 Japanese professors are teaching at the university, including Noto Kuniyuki, Ohno Tomozuki, Uehara Manabu, Ujiie Yuta, Hiromu Yamagishi, Kamei Yukari, Takata Junko, Abe Nanaho, Matsuo Kazuhiko, Matsuo Toshiko, and Yukiko Miyagoshi, who actively contribute to teaching Japanese as native speakers.
During the meeting, discussions covered the conditions created for foreign specialists, educational and scientific activities in Japanese philology, language clubs, as well as preparing students for the national and Asian stages of the Japanese speech contest. The expansion of cooperation between the university and Japanese higher education institutions was also considered.
Special emphasis was placed on the need to create textbooks and study guides in Japanese for Uzbek students. In this regard, JICA volunteer Prof. Noto Kuniyuki shared information about new textbooks being developed in cooperation with the department’s teachers.
