Department of Information Service and Public Relations
Department History: In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 26, 1999, "On measures to improve the system of training and retraining of journalistic personnel," the Faculty of International Journalism was established within the Uzbek State University of World Languages.
Initially, our department within this faculty was called "Theory and History of Journalism." The first head of the department was B. Dustkoraev. On September 1, 1999, the department began training students in their specialty in building No. 104 on Mukimi Street in the Chilanzar district.
In the early years, experienced teachers in various fields of science, such as Professor G. Salomov, Associate Professor S. Umirov, A. Nurmatov, Kh. Saidov, T. Kahkhor, I. Ismailova, Sh. Kholmatova, N. Nomozova, F. Muminov, Kh. Dustmuhammad, Kh. Akbarov, S. Sodik, M. Sa'diy, N. Toshpulatova, A. Karimov, Kh. Makhamadaliyev, N. Kosimova, T. Eshbek, and I. Abdukholikov, taught at the department. Academician B. Nazarov, People's Writer U. Khoshimov, Doctor of Sciences F. Muminova, Candidates of Sciences O. Toshboyev, O. Usarov, I. Rahmatullayeva, P. Allamberganova, sports commentator A. Imomkhujaev, experienced publicist E. Shukur, Sh. Ubaydullayev, and others, although they worked for a short time - half or a quarter of the rate, on an hourly basis, left a good mark with their meaningful lessons, book readings, broadcasts, and speeches. In the early years, scholars from America, such as Nicholas Daniloff, Richard Shafer, Eric Freedman, Alfred Kupers, and others, gave lectures on various fields of journalism. Scholars from Northeastern University in Boston, USA, donated about 100 books to the faculty library. A group of our scientists went to Boston for internships.
