“President’s Gift” Solemnly Awarded to Winners of the “Universiada” Sports Competition
On May 30, a solemn award ceremony for the winners and prize-winners of the final stage of the "Universiada" sports competition took place at the sports complex of Tashkent State University of Economics.
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zulaykho Makhkamova, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov, Minister of Sports Adham Ikromov, Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee Muxtorkhon Toshkhojayev, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee Oybek Qosimov, representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, university rectors, students, and members of the public.
“The principle put forward by our Head of State — ‘We must treat people not with medicine but with physical activity’ — was clearly reflected in the Universiada sports competitions,” stated Minister Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov in his speech.
The competitions were held in 17 sports. A total of 43,470 students participated in regional stages, and 3,052 students — including 1,027 girls — competed in the final stage.
In the overall team standings:
1st place – Tashkent region team
2nd place – Bukhara region team
3rd place – Tashkent city team
It is worth noting with pride that among higher education institutions in Tashkent city, the Uzbekistan State World Languages University stood out as the absolute winner of the "Universiada" competition.
The university team was solemnly awarded the “President’s Gift” for their outstanding athletic performance. This victory is not only a result of the team’s dedicated efforts, but also a significant step toward promoting a healthy lifestyle.
