In 1994, the Faculty of Translation was established at UZSWLU.

 MO'MINOV OMON MO'MINOVICH, professor of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, candidate of philological sciences, mature scientist who made a great contribution to the development of the field of translation studies, author of about 10 manuals and textbooks and more than 100 articles, head of more than 15 candidates of sciences, was appointed the dean of this faculty.

2002-2012 - Head of the Department of English Translation Theory and Practice of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, 2012-2017. - Worked as a professor of translation studies at the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages. The department has carried out theoretical and practical activities related to translation issues, performed tasks related to translation skills and translator skills.

Amon Mominov was an outstanding scientist who brought translation studies to a new level in Uzbekistan.

His textbooks and training manuals such as "English for translators", "Translation history", "Practical translation", "A guide to Consequential translation", "Written translation", "Theory of translation" are still among the main educational literature in universities training translators is considered.

 Leading teacher trainers N.M.Kambarov, Kh.B.Samigova, B.A.Kholbekova, L.K.Zuparova, G.A.Khalilova, D.E.Inamova, D.U.Mirsagatova work in the department and contribute to the development of the department.

  Professors-teachers of the department have created many books and training manuals.

Abduganieva Jamila Rustamovna has started working as the head of the department now, i.e. from the 2022-2023 academic year. From the 2021-2022 academic year, the department was divided into 2 parts, the lower courses were separated into separate departments, and the department began to be called the "Theory of English Translation" department.

Currently, the department has 37 professors (24 main, 13 deputy, including 2 doctors of philological sciences, professor, 4 candidates of science (PhD), 1 associate professor of the department, 5 senior teachers, 7 teachers) .

  In the 2021-2022 academic year, the department published 110 scientific articles (43 in foreign journals; 67 in local journals), 2 training manuals, 10 teaching-methodical manuals.

In the 2020-2021 academic year, 25 dissertations were discussed at the department.

55 independent researchers registered with the university are attached to the department.

Today, development of the field of translation, training of qualified translators, increasing the prestige of the Uzbek language through high-quality translation of texts in various fields, and promoting the unique culture and works of the Uzbek people abroad have gained urgent importance and become one of the priority directions in our country.

 Also, great attention is being paid to the development of scientific research and innovations in the field of translation, as well as practical effectiveness.

At the international scientific conference on the topic "Translation: Problems, Solutions and Prospects" held at the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, the current issues in the field of translation were discussed.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, UzSWLU rector Ulugbek Botirovich Azizov made a speech and emphasized that the importance of the conference is that today's event will serve as a convenient scientific platform for discussing problems in the field of translation theory and practice.

The plenary session of the conference was attended by well-known foreign and Uzbek scientists, experienced translators, young researchers, university professors and others. The presence of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan Muhammad Jahangir Alam and the head of the Indian Cultural Center named after Lal Bahadur Shastri of the Embassy of India Professor Chander Shekhar increased the prestige of the conference.

Azamat Dokturbekov, Head of Sapat School of International Education, Department of English, Chi Daojia, researcher of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Guo Tlanyu, researcher from Beijing, People's Republic of China, Oso Michel Olamide, senior teacher of Asian International School of Tesol, and Global and International Studies prestigious foreign guests such as Malik Hodjayev, senior teacher of the Central Eurasian Studies Department of the Higher School, participated with their lectures.

Also, the speakers were Honored Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Academician Tursunali Koziyev, former Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Bangladesh and India, accomplished translator Surat Mirkosimovlar, Rector of the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages ​​Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, Nikolay Ilin, leading specialist of the international literary relations and literary translation department of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan, poet, translator, owner of the "Order of Friendship", Elmira Denisovna Muratova, professor of Uzswlu, researcher of foreign language teaching methodology at Uz SWLU director of the research institute Aziz Rakhmonov, professor Khushnuda Samigova of UzSWLU, associate professor of the department of English translation theory of UzSWLU, famous translator, owner of the "Order of Friendship" Begoyim Kholbekova, senior teacher of the department of foreign languages ​​of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan Ulug Bek Yoldoshev's in-depth scientific-analytical lectures on current issues of translation studies left a great impression on the participants of the conference.

During the conference, the current problems of modern linguistics and translation art were discussed, their solutions, and work to be done in the future were discussed. In particular, scientific lectures on current problems of linguistics, modern linguistic directions, linguistic translation studies, literary translation problems, comparative typology and comparative study of languages were heard. At the same time, the scientific-theoretical side of training translators is directly related to the field of textbooks, training manuals, textbooks on the theory of translation that meet the spirit of the times, and the development of cooperation in the field of creating various dictionaries, related to the teaching of translation. extremely urgent issues such as the development of recommendations for the development of materials, training of personnel in this field were also discussed.

The work of the conference "Theoretical and practical problems of translation", "Solutions of the theoretical and practical problems related to guiding and translation activities", "Theoretical foundations of comparative literary studies and cross-linguistics", "Methodology of education and training", "Science, ma It continued to be divided into branches such as "health and digital technology".

 The participants of the conference were formed the necessary knowledge and skills based on the innovations in these areas of science.

More than 200 scientific articles were sent to this conference, and they were published in the form of an electronic scientific collection of conference materials with an ISBN number.

 In this case, the collection was placed in the ResearchGate international system, and scientific articles were indexed in the Google Scholar international database.

This collection serves to describe the scientific results of professors, teachers and researchers conducting scientific research in the field of translation, to increase their knowledge and experience, and to develop interaction between international and local scientists.

Proposals and recommendations on the country's problems in the field of translation, their solutions and development opportunities, the experience of foreign countries and their implementation were developed. It was decided that the international scientific conference "Translation Studies: Problems, Solutions and Prospects" should be changed to the format of the international forum "Translation Studies: Problems, Solutions and Prospects" and held regularly every year.

A brief description of the scientific-practical seminars held by professors of the Department of English Translation Theory:

On October 9, 2021, a seminar on the topic "Rhetoric in the speech of teachers and coaches: secrets of lesson success" was held in lecture room 210 of the building of the Faculty of Translation of the State University of World Languages ​​of Uzbekistan. The seminar was conducted by Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor Samigova Khushnuda Botyrovna of the Department of Theory of English Translation, professors and teachers of the Faculty of Translation, attached doctoral students, independent researchers, master's students and talented students actively participated in the process.

It should be noted that the scientific seminar on teachers' public speaking was effective and brought great benefits to all participants.

It should be noted that this project was organized by the Department of English Translation Theory, and they have high hopes for this project, and its ultimate goal is to achieve a new quality of education that meets today's requirements.

This was one of the academic events of the Department of English Translation Theory for the academic year 2021/2022.

Brief summary of the seminar on "Teacher's role in Credit Module System and Hemis Information System" held by the Department of English Translation Theory:

On October 14, 2021, a seminar on the topic "Teacher's role in the credit module system and Hemis information system" was held in lecture room 210 of the building of the Faculty of Translation of the State University of World Languages ​​of Uzbekistan.

 The seminar was conducted by Alimova Kamola Tursunovna, a teacher of the Department of English Translation Theory. Professors and teachers of the Faculty of Translation actively participated in the seminar.

The seminar provided general information about the Credit module system and the Hemis information system, its advantages and newly introduced additional functions.
