History of the department: The department "Second Foreign Language" was established in accordance with the decision of the Council of the Uzbek State University of World Languages ​​dated August 29, 2021.

From the 2021-2022 academic year, the head of the department is Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Makhamadaliev Khislatkhon Matlabovich. The purpose of teaching such subjects as English, Persian, Turkish, Hindi, Malay, Greek and Indonesian, taught by the department: to give a general practical understanding of these subjects to students studying in the specialty, the study of languages ​​is the creation and development of the first fundamental concepts in young people, having the ability to learn. The formation and development of the ability to apply practical knowledge gained in the field of foreign languages ​​in everyday life is an important task of professors and teachers of the department. «Reading club», «Speaking» and «English for beginners» were created by the teachers of the department, in these clubs students are provided with additional information about practical English.

The composition of the department: 61 teachers work at the department. Of these, 47 work in the main state, 8 are internal part-timers and 6 are external part-timers.

Department priorities:

- create educational and methodological support for subjects taught in all areas of education, and convey them to students on the basis of modern information and communication technologies;

- continuous monitoring of literature published abroad within the disciplines taught at the department;

- involvement of students and teachers in the introduction of new innovative teaching technologies, conducting scientific research.

Scientific and methodological activities of the department

The teachers of the department have published more than 100 scientific articles in the journals SCOPUS, WEB OF SCIENCE, IMPACT FACTOR. More than 80 scientific articles have been published in journals recognized by the International and Republican Higher Attestation Commission, and teachers of the department participate in conferences and congresses with their articles.

The staff of the department prepared and published 4 textbooks, 5 teaching guidebooks, 10 educational methodical manuals and 3 dictionaries.

In order to improve their knowledge and skills, the teachers of the department received 8 APTIS certificates, 5 CEFR certificates in a foreign language (C1), 15 TESOL certificates.
