International Scientific-Practical Conference on Modern Environmental Policy Held at UzSWLU

On May 30, Uzbekistan State World Languages University hosted an international scientific-practical conference titled “Modern Environmental Policy: From National Experience to Global Solutions.” The high-level event was organized at the initiative of the Department of Political Science and addressed pressing ecological issues, innovative approaches, and international cooperation.

The event was opened by Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Otabek Yusupov, who highlighted the extensive reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in the field of environmental protection. He focused on the environmental priorities within the “Uzbekistan–2030” strategy, including reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, development of green energy, and the implementation of water-saving technologies.

 

 

The conference brought together leading specialists and scholars in the fields of ecology and political science. Among them were: Professor E’tibor Sultonova of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Doctor of Political Science Farhod Tolipov, Director of the SCO Public Diplomacy Center Qobuljon Sobirov, Associate Professor Suriya Turayeva, Representative of the International Innovation Center for the Aral Sea Region Abdirashit Mirzambetov, and researcher at the UzSWLU Department of Political Science, Shaxina Jo‘rayeva.

The event also featured foreign experts including Professor Nivedita Das Kundu from York University (Canada), Professor Muhammad Ramzan Ali from RISEBA University (Latvia), Erkin Baydarov from Kazakhstan, Beena Kirad and Anoop Kadavath from India, and Saikal Ibraimova from Osh State University (Kyrgyzstan).

The conference was divided into four breakout sessions: “International Cooperation in the Field of Ecology: Problems and Solutions,” “Environmental Policy and Economic Relations,” “Social Relevance and Environmental Literacy,” and “Legal Foundations of Modern Environmental Policy.” These sessions gathered national and international scholars, professionals, ministry representatives, and students.

 

 

During the event, key issues from the “Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy” state program, the “Uzbekistan–2030” strategy, the Climate Forum held in Samarkand on April 4–5, COP28, and the 150th anniversary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union were analyzed.

The conference concluded with the presentation of proposals and recommendations on eliminating environmental risks, enhancing international cooperation, and developing innovative solutions.
