PhD Dissertation Defense in Philology Held at UzSWLU (as part of the “Relevant 90 Days” initiative)

 

On June 25, the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages held a Scientific Council meeting dedicated to the defense of a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Philology. The session was conducted in a hybrid format — both offline and via the ZOOM platform.

 

The event was attended by Rector Ilkhomjon Tuxtasinov, official opponents, members of the Scientific Council, and experts in the field.

 

As part of the agenda, Sohiba Otakhonovna Sapayeva defended her dissertation in the specialty 10.00.06 – Comparative Literature, Comparative Linguistics, and Translation Studies, titled:
“A Linguistic Study of the Concept of Time in English and Uzbek Literary Texts.”

 

 

The research analyzes the linguistic representation of the concept of time in English and Uzbek literary works, focusing on its semantic and pragmatic dimensions. The dissertation was well-received for its theoretical foundation, topical relevance, and practical significance.

 

At the conclusion of the session, the Scientific Council adopted a formal decision regarding the dissertation.
