Summer Camp (Lager)

Program Objectives:

  • Provide intensive practical translation sessions for students

  • Improve oral and written translation skills

  • Foster intercultural communication

  • Develop teamwork and leadership abilities

  • Create an English-speaking environment

  • 5 or 7-day intensive program

  • 4–6 hours of daily activities

  • Participants: 2nd to 4th year students in Translation Theory and Practice

  • Led by 2–3 teachers or mentors

Daily Schedule:
09:00–09:30 – Morning briefing / Icebreaker
09:30–11:00 – Thematic workshop (theory and practice)
11:00–11:15 – Break
11:15–12:45 – Practical translation task (pair or group work)
12:45–13:45 – Lunch
13:45–15:00 – Interpreting practice or role-play simulations
15:00–16:00 – Reflection session / Feedback / Games

Day 1 – Introduction to Translation and Interpreting / Icebreakers
Day 2 – Consecutive Interpreting Techniques and Practice
Day 3 – Written Translation Workshop (news, literature, law)
Day 4 – Simultaneous Interpreting Basics / Shadowing
Day 5 – Specialized Translation (technical, medical)
Day 6 – Cultural Translation and Localization
Day 7 – Final Project Presentation and Certificate Ceremony

Activities Include:

  • Lectures and workshops (theory)

  • Group translation exercises (Uzbek ↔ English)

  • Shadowing practice

  • Role-plays (press conferences, court interpreting, business meetings)

  • Vocabulary games and quizzes

  • Film/video subtitling sessions

  • Debates and discussions in English

  • Guest speakers (professional translators, alumni)
