UzSWLU Representatives Participate in Seminar-Training on “International Ranking Competitiveness of Higher Education Institutions”

 

On April 10 of this year, a seminar-training on the topic “International Ranking Competitiveness of Higher Education Institutions” was held at the Uzbekistan–Japan Youth Innovation Center under Tashkent State Technical University. The event was organized in cooperation with QS – Quacquarelli Symonds International Ranking Agency and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation.

 

The main speaker of the event was Sergey Khristolyubov, Regional Director of the QS ranking. In his presentation, he provided detailed insights into the methodology of international rankings, criteria for inclusion, and the latest strategies to enhance the global competitiveness of higher education institutions. Diyor Umarov, Head of the Department for Evaluating the Effectiveness of International and National Indicators of Educational Institutions at the Ministry, also participated in the seminar. He emphasized the relevance of the event and noted that gaining a respectable position in international rankings is one of the state’s top priorities in higher education policy.

During the seminar, Sergey Khristolyubov highlighted the rapid improvement of Uzbekistan’s higher education institutions in international rankings in recent years.

Specifically, he acknowledged the achievement of Uzbekistan State World Languages University (UzSWLU), which ranked in the 251–300 range in the 2024 QS Interdisciplinary Ranking, calling it a significant accomplishment not only for the university but for the country’s entire higher education system.

UzSWLU representatives who attended the seminar gained practical skills, methodological insights, and exposure to best practices aimed at improving the university’s position in global rankings.

 

At the conclusion of the seminar, Sergey Khristolyubov was invited to visit UzSWLU, which he gladly accepted, confirming that he would visit the university during his next trip.
