Department history:

The department “Linguistic support of intercultural communication” was established in accordance with the decision of the Council of the Uzbek State University of World Languages dated August 29, 2021.

The head of the department from the 2021-2022 academic year is Doctor of Philology, Professor Teshabayeva Dilfuza Muminovna. The department teaches classes in the specialty of the master’s degree: 70230401 - Linguistic support of intercultural communication (English); in the specialty of bachelor's degree: 60230400 - Linguistic support of intercultural communication (English), as well as 60320200 - Information service and public relations.

The Department of Linguistic Support for Intercultural Communication was established on August 29, 2021 on the basis of the Faculty of Media and Communication of the Uzbek State University of World Languages. In total at the department 27 professors-teachers conducted training sessions for students. In the last academic year, at this department training sessions were conducted for students of 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd courses in directions Linguistic support of intercultural communication and Information service and public relations (English) of the Media and Communication Faculty; as well as for students of the 1^st and 2^nd courses in the direction Linguistic support of intercultural communication (English language) of the master's program.

In the 2022-2023 academic year, 15 professors-teachers work at the Department of Linguistic Support for Intercultural Communication in the main staff.

The teachers of the department conduct educational classes for students of the 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th courses in directions Linguistic support of intercultural communication (English); Information service and public relations; 1^st year students in the direction International journalism of the Faculty of Media and Communication; as well as for students of the 2^nd year of the master’s program in the direction of Linguistic support of intercultural communication (English).

At the Department of Linguistic Support for Intercultural Communication, 1 doctor of science and 3 candidates of science work in the main staff. The scientific potential of the department is 26%, 7 teachers conduct scientific work in the framework of scientific research. During the last academic year, teachers of the department published 4 articles in journals indexed in the Scientific and Technical Database (“Web of Science” and “Scopus”); 6 - in republican scientific journals; 19 - in the collections of the republican conferences; 23 - in the collections of the international conferences, as well as 2 monographs and received 2 copyright patents.

In order to increase the scientific potential of the department and the training of qualified professors-teachers, special attention is paid to the protection of research works. During the academic year, 2 teachers of the department received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Philological Sciences:

- Shahodat Usmanova’s dissertation defense “Trends in the newspaper language in the media course (on the example of Uzbek and English languages)” was held on December 10, 2021 at the meeting of the Academic Council

- Makhfuza Artykova’s dissertation defense “Linguistic and cultural aspect of the phenomenon of precedence in the media text” was held on February 4, 2022 at the meeting of the Academic Council No. DSc. 03/30.12.2019. Fil/Ped.27.01 at the Uzbek State University of World Languages.
